At a lower level, I have never succeeded.
At level 20, it can be fun to help some new people through this mission, get to this point and tell them to "Run for back to the wall! I will hold them off!" and start to fight the onslaught.

He who has never tried this, has never really lived the game.

I tried it once with my warrior, got myself overrun sadly, but it felt epic

its fun to do it as a mm level 20....let the minions do the work (me and my guildee warrior did this).....have done it with some of my other level 20s for laughs (and to map the area behind them as well).

I was helping a guildie do TGNW (he was doing survivor so didnt want to risk dying (as if you would anyway)) and told him to run whislt I smashed the daylights out of the charr with my ele. Ofcourse this was the group straight out of the cut scene, not the one before the bridge.

Its fun...

It's possible to defeat all the Charr. I did it a while ago for kicks and took a MM hero with me. So much fun

I don't know how many times I've stopped the Charr invasion force single-handed. I use my cyclone axe/triple chop warrior and watch 'em drop.

MUST.....HAVE......CHARR CARVINGS!

This mission is fun to go back and solo. I've probably killed enough charr there to rebuild the North Wall with their bodies.

For the exact same reason, I did the exact same thing.
And at times still do ;-)

did this a little while back on my warrior, slapped 100 blades on my bar and watched the charr pile up, most epic feeling of single-handed badassery I've ever gotten from the game lol

In ancient times, before Factions, it was actually a pretty popular farming place for runes and weapons upgrades.

The nice part is that most, maybe all, professions can do it. It's not something just specialized exploiting farm-builds can do, but it can be done by reasonable all-purpose builds. I've done it with ranger, warrior, necro and ele. And of course sprinted in to the camp, to see The Edge Of The World.

This used to be and still is a popular farming place for char carvings.

It's fun to destroy the horde ^ ^

Hmmm.... Of course I've tried it before, but I'm embarrassed to say that I must really suck because I've never beaten them before. Yeah, I tried it with my cyclone axe warrior and my barrage ranger and trapping ranger, but I got owned each time (both level 20). I don't think I've tried it with my ele or mm yet. I might have to go try this again.

I think you have to do it for cartographer title. There is a large area back there to map.
